The Clear Oak Residence is perched atop a ridgeline with unobstructed views of the San Fernando Valley and the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains. This mid-century home was completely renovated with a new landscape masterplan to capitalize on an expanded program of usable space for the one acre site. The design objective was to juxtapose modern architectural forms with a draught tolerant landscape befitting the hillside locale. Old growth olive and palo verde trees accent the garden spaces along with custom water features in the front entry and backyard. Meandering pathways take the pedestrian to the lower vegetable and cutting gardens, as well as a fire pit nestled on the hillside with canyon views. With the incorporation of an outdoor living room and fire feature, outdoor kitchen, and lawn pool terrace, landscape areas are maximized.
